C735 Nickel Silver Supplier

Sourcing C735 nickel silver strip with the right temper, tolerance, and surface quality can be a challenge when most suppliers only stock standard inventory. Eagle Metals is a precision reroll mill that manufactures C73500 nickel silver coil and strip to your exact specifications, with custom tempers, widths, and gauges available on orders as low as 100 lbs.

Applications of C735 Nickel Silver Strip

Engineers and buyers specify C73500 for applications that demand a balance of formability, corrosion resistance, and visual appeal. Available in tempers ranging from DDQ through spring, C735 nickel silver strip serves as a go-to alloy for precision-stamped components across several high-volume markets.

Electronic & Electrical Contacts

C735 is pertinent in many AI and datacenter applications.  Low-load spring contacts, relay components, and connector assemblies require tight dimensional stability and reliable solderability. C735 nickel silver strip meets both requirements while accepting plating for enhanced conductivity and wear resistance in high-reliability electrical environments.

Optical Frames & Components

The optical industry relies on C735 nickel silver strip for eyeglass frames, bridges, temples, and hinges. In annealed or light tempers, C73500 offers the consistent formability that frame stampers need for tight-radius bends, along with a surface finish that plates cleanly for retail-ready aesthetics.

Springs & Contact Stampings

Flat springs, spring clips, and retaining features demand a material that holds its temper across the entire coil. Spring and connector stampers turn to C735 nickel silver strip in quarter hard through full hard tempers for its stress relaxation resistance and repeatable performance at high production volumes.

Musical Instrument Hardware

Saxophone keys, flute mechanisms, valve trim, and decorative fittings have been made from C73500 for decades. The alloy delivers a silver-like luster and natural tarnish resistance at a fraction of the cost of sterling silver, which is why it remains the standard in instrument manufacturing.

With the industry's smallest minimum order at just 100 lbs, we support everything from prototype runs for optical frame tooling to full-scale production for spring stamping operations.

The Functionality Behind C735 Nickel Silver

C735 nickel silver (UNS C73500) is a copper-nickel-zinc alloy composed of approximately 72% copper, 18% nickel, and 10% zinc. The nickel content gives C73500 its signature silver appearance, strong corrosion resistance, and moderate strength across a wide temper range.

It accepts plating and soldering exceptionally well, making it a preferred alloy for components that require both performance and a finished aesthetic. You will find C735 nickel silver strip in eyeglass frames, saxophone keys, flat springs, and electrical relay contacts.

Frequently Asked Questions About C73500 Nickel Silver

C73500 is composed of approximately 72% copper, 18% nickel, and 10% zinc, with trace amounts of manganese and iron. This composition conforms to ASTM B122 and is sometimes referenced as 72-18-10 nickel silver.

Both are copper-nickel-zinc alloys, but C735 contains approximately 18% nickel, while C752 contains approximately 18% nickel with a higher zinc content and lower copper percentage. C752 offers slightly higher strength, while C735 provides better formability and is more commonly specified for optical and spring applications.

C73500 nickel silver strip falls under ASTM B122, which covers copper-nickel-zinc alloy plate, sheet, strip, and rolled bar. Eagle Metals manufactures C735 coil and strip in full compliance with this specification.
